Larry has been defending clients in state and federal criminal actions since 1985. He has represented both individuals and publicly held corporations accused of a broad range of offenses, including federal tax crimes, SEC and CFTC investigations, money laundering, public corruption, mail fraud, computer and internet offenses, narcotics and firearm violations, homicide and violent crimes, DWI, and sex offenses. He has qualified as a capital trial attorney in both New York State and the United States District Court.
In addition to his trial experience, Larry frequently represents clients on appeal and in post-conviction proceedings, as well as in administrative and SORA proceedings. He is experienced in civil rights litigation and has handled a number of First Amendment Freedom of Speech cases, including the Rochester Top Free Seven in 1986, MVP Protests in 2009, Occupy Rochester prosecutions in 2011, and the East Avenue Protest prosecutions in 2012. Larry also defends clients’ gun rights in pistol permit proceedings.
Prior to partnering with his colleagues at ETKS, Larry was a criminal trial attorney with the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office for fourteen years. He also served as the Village Court Justice in Honeoye Falls from 2010 to 2012.
Larry has presented at Continuing Legal Education seminars for both the Monroe County and Ontario County Bar Associations, has served as a guest lecturer at RIT, at area high schools, and was an Adjunct Professor at Monroe Community College from 2010 to 2012.
In September 2014, Larry was honored by his colleagues and awarded the Jeffrey A. Jacobs Memorial Award for his zealous advocacy and dedication to his clients. During his acceptance speech, Larry summed up his career with these words: “I did not become a criminal defense attorney to win awards. I became one because I believe in our individual rights, due process, and constitutional protections. Criminal defense attorneys are the conscience of our criminal justice system. I am proud to be considered a member of that fraternity.”
