Partner Brian Shiffrin to Instruct Continuing Legal Education Seminar on Issues Raised by the Admission of Recorded Police Interrogations

Posted by on February 22, 2021 in Firm News

ETKS Partner Brian Shiffrin will lead a Continuing Legal Education Seminar on the issues raised by the admission of recorded interrogations. Brian has taught attorneys the issues around police interrogations for years as he continues to litigate issues such as these at appellate courts throughout the state. During interrogations, police are permitted to lie and to express their opinion as to the suspect’s guilt. These statements, proper during interrogations, would be inadmissible at grand jury or trial. And yet recorded interrogations with these lies and statements of opinion are often admitted at grand jury or trial without redaction or limiting instruction.

The CLE will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 and sponsored by the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office & Streamed on Cisco Webex Meetings Software.
