Easton Thompson Kasperek Shiffrin, LLP is proud to announce that Rhian Jones is now a partner in the firm, sharing our focus on client-centered representation.
Rhian’s practice has a dual concentration in criminal defense and family court matters. She has represented clients in every level of a criminal case, from traffic infractions to homicides. Rhian has also represented clients in a broad range of family court proceedings, including family offenses, child neglect and abuse proceedings, termination of parental rights actions, and hundreds of child custody and visitation cases.
Rhian is one of very few attorneys in this area whose practice is focused on representing clients in both criminal court and family court matters where allegations against a client may form the basis for both a criminal prosecution and a family court action. This simultaneous representation by a single advocate in both forums can maximize the benefit to the client in each of the proceedings.
Rhian received a Bachelor of Laws with high honors from the University of Wales, Swansea in 1998, then trained as a Barrister in the United Kingdom. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999 after joining the Honorable Society of the Middle Temple, part of the London Inns of Court. Rhian relocated to the Rochester area in 2001 and is admitted to practice in all state-level courts and the federal District Court for the Western District of New York.
Rhian is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars presented by the Monroe County Bar Association, the Erie County Bar Association and the New York State Defender’s Association and has lectured on a variety of topics, including instructing criminal defense attorneys on how to utilize companion family court proceedings to assist in the defense of simultaneously-filed criminal charges. She currently chairs the Criminal Justice Section of the Monroe County Bar Association.
Rhian has been of counsel to Easton Thompson Kasperek Shiffrin, LLP since 2010.
